About Zardosi: Zardosi is a rich, luxurious form of metallic embroidery, made with fine metal threads on rice fabrics like velvet and silk. Agra and the rest of Uttar Pradesh, is a centre for zardozi. Zardozi originated from Persia and came to India in the 12th Century, where it was patronized by royalty. Today it continues to be worn at weddings, festivals and parties. Artists also add stones and pearls to zardozi work, making opulent clothing, accessories and decor.
About the workshop:In this workshop, you will learn the basics of creating a zardozi design, from concept to tracing, setting up your frame, and embroidering by hand. You will be guided by expert zardozi artist on using metallic threads, gemstones, beads, and silk to create your very own small zardozi design. It is suitable for everyone including those who haven't ever done any embroidery! It is a creative and meditative art.
After the workshop you can have a walkthrough of a vintage collection of zardozi pieces, tools and artwork that give you a glimpse into this craft's legacy.
How it works:
Duration: 2 hours approximately
Costs:
Rs 1500 per person for group of 16 to 20 persons
Rs 2000 per person for group of 11 to 15 persons
Rs 3000 per person for group of 6 to 10 persons
Rs 4000 per person for group of 2 to 5 persons
Rs 6000 for a solo traveller
Inclusions: Guided workshop, all materials required for the session, filtered water, tea, and all taxes.
